Shanying Suzhou Paper has successfully started paper production on its new PM 71 in Suzhou, west of Shanghai. Together with the sister machine PM 72, which recently went into operation, this double start-up marks another milestone in the partnership between Shanying and Voith.
With the new machine supplied by Voith, Shanying is significantly expanding its production capacity in the premium packaging segment. In addition, the company can respond more quickly to market developments and strengthen its position in the growing market for packaging papers.
This customization is also reflected in the design of PM 71: The machine was developed for a speed of 1,300 meters per minute and a wire width of 9,300 millimeters. It produces up to 350,000 tons of lightweight but strong corrugating medium per year – with basis weights ranging from 50 to 90 g/m². Together, the two machines will be capable of producing up to 800,000 tons of corrugating medium in the basis weight range of 50 to 120 g/m².
The project features state-of-the-art technology from Voith's XcelLine including a MasterJet Pro headbox, DuoFormer D II and DuoCentri NipcoFlex shoe press. The hybrid former concept ensures consistent paper quality and low energy consumption even at high speeds. Single-tier dryer sections in the pre-dryer and after-dryer section increase runability. The system is complemented by a SpeedSizer AT film press and MasterReel reeler. Digital systems such as DCS, QCS and OnCare.Health ensure efficiency, quality and low operating costs. Many components were manufactured locally, enabling faster delivery and installation.
Shortly after commissioning, the PM 71 met the partners' expectations: stable production conditions with consistent cross-profiles and high-quality finished paper rolls. Both partners aim to continue setting innovative and sustainable standards in packaging paper production in the future.
