Liebherr Transportation Systems (China) based in Pinghu had been contracted by Stadler Rail Group through its local entity in Kazakhstan to manufacture and supply 550 heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems during the next five years. This order marked Liebherr’s first entry into the railway market of Kazakhstan and is also an important breakthrough in its internationalization strategy for advanced air-conditioning technology.
“In this project we have successfully overcome technical challenges,” said Lightman Lu, Engineering Manager of Liebherr Transportation Systems (China) Co., Ltd. and Lead Engineer for the Stadler Kazakhstan LLP project. “Together with our customer Stadler we developed HVAC systems that can withstand reliably temperatures as low as -50 °C and harsh weather conditions in a desert-like environment. Our advanced HVAC technology will enhance passenger comfort during long-distance journeys in Kazakhstan.”
Entrusting the Liebherr team in China for this project is a recognition of its R&D capabilities and speed. The joint project with Stadler Rail Group also supports Kazakhstan's national railway modernization strategy and the result sets a new benchmark for railway HVAC performance in demanding climate conditions.
