SANY CRANE INSTALLS WIND TURBINE FOR THE WORLD’S HIGHEST-GRADE HARD ROCK LITHIUM MINE IN AUSTRALIA
The Kathleen Valley Lithium Project is set to be one of the greenest resource projects in Australia with a clean energy power station.
The Kathleen Valley, 680km northeast of Perth and about 60 km north of Lynst, is considered a Tier-1 battery metals asset with one of the largest and highest-grade hard rock lithium deposits in the world and is one of the new lithium mines to be opened in Australia.
The power station will include 30MW of wind, from a total of five 6MW turbines, and 16MW of solar PV, and a 17MW/19MWh battery energy storage system, as well as synchronous condensers to provide critical system stability and resilience.
SANY SCL10000 crane is working on-site to install the wind turbines. With a maximum lifting capacity of 1000 tons and a maximum lifting moment of 11000 t*m, the SCL10000 should assemble the wind turbine tower first and then lift the 92-meter blade to 210 meters peak height from the ground, which is a great challenge to the durability and stability of the crane.
The project is due to enter production in mid-2024 and is expected to deliver around 500,000 tonnes of 6% lithium oxide concentrate annually.
