50 years in motion
NORD DRIVESYSTEMS an international quality brand
llustration 1: The continuing success is marked by investments in production facilities and this new administrative headquartersThe NORD DRIVESYSTEMS Group is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. More than 300 industry representatives joined the manufacturer for the main festivities at the German headquarters on 12 June. Many others visited the Hannover Messe booth in April – including German chancellor Angela Merkel and Narendra Modi, prime minister of the trade fair’s partner country India. NORD started out as a three-man gear supplier in 1965. Very early on, the company established pinion and shaft production facilities, laying the foundation of the company’s renown for quality. NORD built up in-house capacities for development and production of drive electronics and motors from the 1980s onwards, becoming one of only a handful of full-scale drive systems manufacturers with a global sales and service network. In addition to being recognized as a leading provider of quality gear units, NORD takes a lead in the field of integrated power electronics, offering a comprehensive range of motor starters and frequency inverters that solve customer requirements in a cost-efficient way. Today, NORD employs more than 3,200 people and has subsidiaries in 36 countries around the world. Drive engineers provide customer support in 20 languages. Last year, the family-owned company surpassed 500 million EUR in turnover. Highlighting the continued success, NORD has also just inaugurated a new administrative building and extended the production facilities at the German headquarters with a large new paint shop and logistics center.
