Pallet and container racks consists essentially of vertical columns and horizontal bars. In the past 20 years, the design of these installations has changed considerably. For cost reasons, thinner-walled materials were increasingly used. The loading possibilities and range of applications became significantly larger. Racks are increasingly affected by thermal and dynamic influences and shock loads have increased, e.g., from the integration of shuttle systems. The resulting deformation of rack components under load, for example, from deflection or expansion, must therefore be considered in detail.
The "Smart Process Gating" muting process, which completely forgoes the need for signal-emitting sensors, is based on the MLC safety light curtains from Leuze electronic and is integrated in the MLC 530 SPG model.
Tomorrow’s industrial Internet will integrate technologies that imitate human cognitive skills such as the ability to plan, to learn, and to perceive our surroundings. The Fraunhofer Cluster of Excellence Cognitive Internet Technologies CCIT is working to realize the vision of a Cognitive Internet of Things.
Air/water heat pumps enjoy a high level of acceptance in heating systems. Demand for them is rising; with output from 3 to 30 kW, they are a useful solution for single- and multi-family homes. Modern EC fans play an important role in ensuring that such systems run very efficiently and economically.
Aimed at OEMs looking to add mobility to their autonomous or collaborative robots, NSK has developed an innovative direct-drive wheel unit. Specifically designed for use in quiet environments, such as hospitals, hotels, offices and libraries, robots fitted with the new wheel unit can efficiently carry and move loads up to 100 kg without disturbing people.
