SANY Foundation Joins Hands with CMAC to Advance Mine Clearance in Cambodia
Cambodia faces threats from landmines & unexploded ordnance, hindering progress. CMAC, supported by SANY Foundation through funding, technology, & equipment, works to enhance safety & improve conditions in affected areas.
SANY Foundation and Cambodian Mine Action Center (CMAC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on “Cooperation in the Implementation of the Cambodian Mine Clearance Public Welfare Project”. Ms. Song Ximei, the representative of SANY Foundation, and Mr. Heng Ratana, Director General of CMAC and Delegate of the Royal Government of Cambodia, signed the agreement. The event was attended by Mr. Lu Qizhi, Counselor of the Chinese Consulate General in Siem Reap, and several senior CMAC officials, marking a significant milestone in this humanitarian partnership.
Cambodia has grappled with the explosive remnants of war, including landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO), for decades. These remnants pose a serious threat to people’s lives and hinder economic progress and infrastructure development. To relieve people from the struggle, CMAC has been working on demining throughout the country for many years. However, the scale and complexity of the situation, coupled with limited resources, make the progress full of challenge.
SANY Foundation has been committed to international humanitarian relief. The cooperation with CMAC aims to improve the working and living conditions and promote safety in mined areas through financial support, technical assistance and equipment donation.
“We understand the suffering and barriers that landmines have imposed on the Cambodian people,” said Ms. Song during the ceremony. “SANY Foundation is dedicated to alleviating this plight and supporting Cambodians in rebuilding a safe and secure homeland.”
Mr. Heng Ratana expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the assistance of the SANY Foundation, emphasizing the significance of the collaboration, “This partnership is of great significance to Cambodia, and the support from SANY Foundation will bring new impetus and resources to our mine clearance effort, saving more lives, and accelerating our goal of freeing the Cambodian land from the shadow of landmines.”
This partnership symbolizes a shared commitment to tackling one of Cambodia’s most pressing challenges. By combining CMAC’s expertise with SANY Foundation’s resources and support, the initiative aims to bring hope and security to communities impacted by landmines. Together, they are paving the way for a safer, more sustainable future for Cambodia, where people can live, work, and thrive free from the dangers of unexploded remnants of war.
Through this collaboration, SANY Foundation is not only providing critical resources to address the urgent challenge of landmines but also embodying its commitment to building a safer, more compassionate world. Together with CMAC, SANY Foundation strives to create a future where communities can thrive in peace and security, free from the devastating legacies of conflict.
