Siemens Indonesia announces a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Sinar Mas Agro Resources and Technology Tbk. (PT SMART Tbk.), a company that was founded in 1962 and that's now one of the world's leading seed-to-shelf agribusinesses.
This MoU marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration aimed at simplifying, accelerating, and scaling PT SMART Tbk.'s digital transformation, resulting in quality and competitive products. The increased production of palm-based products and other vegetable oil products is expected to support the Indonesian government's food and energy self-sufficiency target in the next four to five years.
PT SMART Tbk., also known as SMART, is a subsidiary of Golden Agri Resources (GAR), operating under the Sinar Mas Agribusiness and Food brand in Indonesia. SMART offers a wide range of palm-based products and other vegetable oil products, including oleochemicals, specialty fats, biodiesel, and refined edible oils for both businesses and consumers.
The key areas of collaboration outlined in the agreement include:
- Exchange of data and business insights to steer a digital business transformation.
- Provide consulting and guidance that would define a comprehensive and actionable digital transformation roadmap.
- Exploring strategic collaborations in the implementation of projects.
Furthermore, PT SMART Tbk. employees will have the opportunity to upskill and embrace digital change at any point in their company's growth process with the SITRAIN training program developed by Siemens. Overall, the scheme aims to increase the technical skills base of PT SMART Tbk's engineers and technicians.
