Faced with high maintenance costs relating to bearings on a plate rolling mill, a major steel manufacturer has witnessed significant benefits following an application specific product replacement from NSK. Until recently, a daily maintenance routine was required on the rolling mill’s existing open roll bearings to ensure sufficient lubrication. However, analysis by NSK led to the proposal, and subsequent installation, of advanced Sealed-Clean bearings, which are designed specifically for use in heavily contaminated environments and offer 2.7 times longer life than conventional roll neck bearings.
Designed specifically to suit steel industry converters and continuous casting lines, optimised cylindrical roller bearings from NSK deliver benefits that include the use of up to 30% wider cylindrical rollers for accommodating greater loads. The bearings also provide longer replacement intervals, helping end users reduce downtime.

Raytek and Ircon at METEC-THERMPROCESS 2015
Berlin – At this year’s METEC-THERMPROCESS exhibition, infrared temperature measurement experts Raytek and Ircon (Hall 9, Stand B73) will present their comprehensive pyrometer program for the metal working industry. By detecting infrared radiation from a distance to determine an object’s temperature, pyrometers reliably monitor products and processes with temperatures up to 3,000 °C. Exhibition highlights range from robust handheld devices to fixed pyrometers with rugged accessories, from OEM sensors with record-setting compact dimensions to highly precise thermal imaging systems. The team will be happy to advise visitors on the best way to tackle their particular application. Raytek and Ircon provide capable solutions for all scenarios involving digital or analog signals and automation environments featuring a variety of different fieldbuses or Industrial Ethernet protocols.
DATAPAQ TP3 for heat treatment, paint-curing, and ceramics processes
Cambridge, UK – The new DATAPAQ TP3 data logger provides more measurement channels, connectivity options, and ease of use for profiling and surveying in high-temperature heat treatment applications. With a ±0.3 °C (0.5 °F) accuracy, the all-new logger surpasses the most stringent requirements. “We have worked towards this exciting launch for two years,” states Elie El Choueiry, Furnace and Kiln Product Manager at Datapaq Ltd., Cambridge, UK. “Compared to our previous, successful heat treatment solution TPAQ21, the new DATAPAQ TP3 provides even more detailed insight into high-temperature processes. It is more resilient and includes numerous new features, such as full connectivity including Bluetooth, fully certified TUS capability for AMS 2750E and CQI-9, integrated correction and calibration functions, and flexible charging with multiple battery options.”
