New Makino L2 5-axis vertical machining centres: Optimum solution for high-volume parts production

The new Makino L2 5-axis vertical machining centre delivers high accuracy and rigidity from a ultra-compact footprint. Two models dedicated for indexing applications and impeller machining, respectively, will be launched at EMO in Hannover this year. Both have been custom-designed for high-volume, small-part manufacturing processes, ready for automation.

Seco Tools

Double-sided Round Inserts Give Seco Cutters Added Value and Performance

Seco Tools has introduced its R217/220.28 cutters with completely new body designs that incorporate double-sided round inserts to deliver cost-effective performance as well as boost productivity. The new insert grade also complements the existing R217/220.29I range. Double-negative-positioning pocket seats of the R217/R220.28 cutters allow for an extra insert per diameter for enhanced cutting capability and significant gains in productivity when compared to the R217/R220.29I. These pocket seats also enable safe and user-friendly indexing to save time and provide trouble-free operation.

SIC Marking

SIC Marking marks parts made by additive manufacturing

Metal additive manufacturing is a 3D printing technology that allows to create parts by adding material set by a CAD program. Metallic material is successively layered to create a complete assembly or to add functionalities to an existing part. Creating a part from scratch is made possible using laser or electron beam systems. Unlike conventional machining processes, this method consists in adding metal and thus saving material.
