The project was invaluably supported through its local partner Teikoku Sen-I Co., Ltd (TEISEN). This significant milestone reflects the growing demand for advanced security solutions in the aviation sector.

TEISEN has been contracted by KIX, to install three Rohde & Schwarz QPS201 security scanners. These state-of-the-art scanners will be utilized in new checkpoints and were chosen based on their outstanding performance. The R&S QPS201 scanner model combines the highest level of detection capabilities with efficient and intuitive procedures that benefit both passengers and staff. They employ innovative millimeter-wave technology and AI-based algorithms to meet all regulatory requirements for detecting prohibited items while minimizing false alarm rates. This technology ensures that security measures are both effective and user-friendly, enhancing the overall passenger experience.

Kansai International Airport, a major international hub in Japan, has embarked on an extensive renovation of Terminal 1. As part of this overhaul, the airport's security screening area is being revamped with new, advanced screening equipment, including the R&S QPS 201 units from Rohde & Schwarz. The updated area is expected to be operational by March 18, 2025.

Andreas Haegele, Head of Microwave Imaging at Rohde & Schwarz, commented: “Hitting this 2000 milestone has a very special meaning to us, because it is a testimonial to our technology leadership. We are extremely proud to be part of this airport modernization project and to have gained Kansai International Airport’s trust to make travel safe and convenient for passengers and crew.”

Since entering the aviation industry in 2015, Rohde & Schwarz has established itself as a trusted provider of security solutions, with its scanners approved by the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), the US Transport Security Administration (TSA), and many other national agencies.
