A new industrial filtration order is one of the largest ever for world leader in membrane technology: Alfa Laval. The advanced filtration solution will be used in a modern factory in Asia and is proof that Alfa Laval’s technologies can be used in many different industries.
Alfa Laval is currently working at full speed to build an advanced membrane filtration solution, which will be delivered to a major Asian customer later this year for installation in an industrial fermentation plant. This plant is the largest of its kind in Asia, and the order, valued at approximately EUR 8 million, is one of the largest membrane orders ever for Alfa Laval.
The filtration plant, which is capable of both nano- and ultrafiltration, will be constructed in a new and modern factory for a global company. It will comprise 30 large containers that will be shipped to the customer in the autumn. Until then, Alfa Laval’s various departments in its Nakskov business unit will work closely together to ensure an optimal filtration solution for the customer that will deliver a high level of product purity.
Alfa Laval’s membrane technology is also widely used in, among other things, wastewater treatment and the food industry – helping to ensure more sustainable production and a circular-economy perspective through ease of maintenance, maximized resource recovery, and a low operating cost.
“When working on a large and advanced plant such as this, it is a great advantage to be able to tap into all our accumulated expertise. This means that engineers, software developers, designers, metalworkers, and electricians are all working together to develop a solution that suits the needs of the individual customer. With this type of plant, you cannot use standard solutions,” says Ole Wibom, Membrane Engineering & Supply Manager at Alfa Laval, and continues:
“Because of the expertise that we have built up in Nakskov, we can advise the customer from start to finish and develop plants in collaboration with them. This means that the solution is adapted to the customer's needs, and we thus achieve a more optimal solution.”
Alfa Laval in Nakskov is the group’s global headquarters for the development and manufacture of membrane filtration solutions. Customers from all over the world come to Nakskov to use Alfa Laval’s test centre and investigate how Alfa Laval's technology works before placing an order. The test centre is an important factor in the sales process because customers gain extra confidence in Alfa Laval after they have been through the testing process.
