SUEZ to support the environmental transformation in Uzbekistan

On the occasion of the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to France, SUEZ announced the signing of two agreements to support the country in meeting its environmental challenges. These new agreements are part of the long-term relationship of trust between SUEZ, a strategic partner in the water sector, and the Uzbek authorities.

SUEZ and UzSuvtaminot have signed a Term Sheet for a two-year services and supply contract in preparation of the development of a long-term Public Private Partnership in four districts of the Surxondaryo region, one of the most remote regions in the country: Sariyoso, Denov, Shorchi and Kumqorgon, representing 1 million inhabitants.

It includes the support, training and development by SUEZ experts of the local water authority teams, UzSuvtaminot Surxondaryo, on issues such as network improvements (leak repairs, extensions), equipment maintenance, and customer services, as well as on the provision of management tools (GIS, hypervision), meters and measuring instruments.

Recognizing the importance of training highly qualified specialists in the fields of water supply, wastewater management, and infrastructure operations, SUEZ and the “Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers” National Research University (TIIAME-NRU) have signed an agreement to foster educational cooperation.

SUEZ and TIIAME-NRU thus express their intention to collaborate on educational and research initiatives to enhance the professional skills of university students and to provide them with opportunities for internships and practical training, including as part of SUEZ 's projects in Uzbekistan. As part of the agreement, SUEZ shall also endeavour to support applications from university students to continue their studies in French universities.
