KSI's First Production of SGB and ME-Kat 200 Catalysts Supports National Energy Independence

PT Katalis Sinergi Indonesia (KSI) has officially commenced the production of Sulphur Guard Bed (SGB) Adsorbents and ME-Kat 200 catalysts at its factory located in the Kujang Industrial Area in Cikampek, West Java. This inaugural production was witnessed by the Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming of the Republic of Indonesia, Todotua Pasaribu, as a form of government support for the high-tech catalyst industries in the country.

PT Katalis Sinergi Indonesia is a synergy between PT Pertamina Lubricants, PT Pupuk Kujang, and PT Rekacipta Inovasi ITB. This project is also part of the National Strategic Project (PSN) initiated by the government to strengthen energy independence, promote green energy development, and reduce dependence on imported catalysts.

The SGB adsorbent plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality and efficiency of environmentally friendly fuel production processes, while the ME-Kat 200 catalyst is used in the production process of converting Methyl Ester into Fatty Alcohol, which is essential for manufacturing derivative vegetable oil products and environmentally friendly chemicals to support the transition towards clean energy. With its high production capacity, KSI's factory in Cikampek is expected to fulfill domestic catalyst demands while opening opportunities for future exports.

As a National Strategic Project, KSI is not only focused on fulfilling domestic catalyst needs but also on developing other innovative catalysts to support various industrial sectors, including renewable energy and petrochemicals.

This catalyst production is expected to become a crucial pillar in sustaining energy security by ensuring the availability of high-quality catalysts needed in various industrial processes, including environmentally friendly fuel processing and renewable energy development. By producing catalysts locally, Indonesia can reduce import dependence, lower production costs, and improve efficiency in the energy sector.

Furthermore, this production aligns with the national energy transition towards cleaner and more sustainable resources such as biodiesel, bioavtur, and other green energy sources. The catalysts produced not only enhance the efficiency of production processes but also contribute to achieving Net Zero Emissions through more efficient and environmentally friendly technology.

Moreover, the domestic catalyst industry strengthens national energy sovereignty by creating an industry ecosystem based on research and innovation. It encourages new catalyst technologies development for various future applications, expands export opportunities, and solidifies Indonesia’s global position as a pioneer in sustainable energy technology.
