Hitachi Rail to renew CCTVs across over 50 stations on Singapore’s NSEWL
Hitachi Rail and Strides Engineering are set to enhance CCTV infrastructure across Singapore's North-South and East-West Lines, improving passenger safety and operational efficiency at over 50 stations.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore has awarded Hitachi Rail, in consortium with Strides Engineering, the comprehensive renewal of CCTV systems across the North-South and East-West Lines. Covering more than 50 stations, the project aims to enhance the CCTV network infrastructure and camera capacity across Singapore’s oldest and most heavily utilised metro lines.
At its core, the upgrade features a centralised Video Management System (VMS) and Video Transmission Network (VTN) to manage both new and existing cameras across the NSEWL stations.
Hitachi Rail will provide the overall system solution and Strides Engineering will conduct the physical deployment. The combined expertise will ensure each station is equipped with state-of-the-art security technology that is seamlessly integrated into the Operations Control Centre.
On Singapore’s NSEWL, Hitachi Rail is also delivering the signalling system renewal, a project commissioned in 2017 for the North-South Line, followed by the East-West Line in 2018. This is one of the largest re-signalling projects in the world. With this new CCTV project, NSEWL will be further enhanced in operational efficiency for CCTV monitoring and passenger safety, marking a step forward in the evolution of Singapore's public transport infrastructure.
