ALSTOM EXPANDS PRESENCE IN THAILAND WITH NEW DIGITAL MOBILITY LAB

Located in Bangkok, the lab will undertake the development of Digital Mobility and Signalling solutions, expanding the company’s capability in smart mobility.

ALSTOM EXPANDS PRESENCE IN THAILAND WITH NEW DIGITAL MOBILITY LAB

Alstom, a global leader in smart and sustainable mobility, opened a new Digital Mobility Lab in Bangkok, reaffirming its commitment to Thailand. The newly expanded lab, adding over 277 m2, brings the total lab space in Thailand to over 2000 m2 facilitating over 100 projects in parallel. Mr Pakapong Sirikantaramas, MRTA Governor and His Excellency, Mr Jean-Claude Poimboeuf, Ambassador of France to Thailand inaugurated the lab, showcasing the exemplary French-Thai collaboration in advanced technology domain.

The state-of-the-art lab is an expansion of Alstom’s Global Engineering Centre in Thailand, which now boasts over 1000 professionals, including 700 dedicated engineers. The new Digital Mobility Lab aims to nurture highly-qualified technology and engineering talent skilled in signalling technologies and system integration for global rail mobility projects. In addition to serving local customers, the Lab will also serve Alstom’s global customers in Australia, Egypt, Germany, Philippines, Singapore and many more.

During the inauguration, Toby Tiberghien, Managing Director for East Asia, said, "Our new Digital Mobility Lab and the growth of our Global Engineering Centre in Thailand underscores our commitment to enhancing Thailand’s mobility ecosystem. It is a significant milestone in Alstom's long-term vision in Thailand and we are deeply committed to serve Thai people and investing in growth and development of local talent to achieve global standards of excellence."

Alstom has been delivering smart and sustainable mobility solutions in Thailand for over 40 years. Thailand is one of the only two countries in the Asia-Pacific region that hosts a Global Engineering Centre for the company. Over the years, Alstom has been instrumental in delivering key rail and mobility projects within the country, including turnkey systems for Bangkok’s first Monorail lines, Bangkok’s first automated people movers (APM), advanced signalling for six urban mass transit lines and sections of the mainline network.
