The contract for eight sewage treatment plants was received from the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board.
Toshiba Infrastructure Systems & Solutions Corporation (TISS) announced that Toshiba Water Solutions Private Limited (hereinafter Toshiba Water), its subsidiary in India, has received a contract from the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) for Design, Upgrdation, Rehabilitation (with capacity Augmentation) and Operation & Maintenance (O&M) services of three Sewage Treatment Plants and upgradation & Rehabilitation of five Sewage Treatment Plants in Bangalore Urban district (officially Bengaluru Urban district) of Karnataka, India.
The contract entails the Upgrdation, Rehabilitation of and O&M services for the Kadubeesanahalli Sewage Treatment Plant, Mylasandra Sewage Treatment Plant, and Doddabele Sewage Treatment Plant for the Bangalore Urban district of Karnataka in southern India and the upgradation & Rehabilitation for other five sewage treatment plants in Bengaluru. Toshiba Water will commence plant construction and O&M services in sequence.
Consisting of the Bengaluru core area, eight Urban Local Bodies, and 110 villages around Bengaluru, the Bangalore Urban district is regarded as the “Silicon Valley of India.” Rapid industrial development has led to a growing increase in population and an expansion of the urban area. Therefore, the most urgent issue is to improve the sanitation and water environment of these villages.
In 2009, the government of India launched the National Urban Sanitation Policy with the goal of providing access to safe sanitary facilities through educational and other activities for the residents while the government of Karnataka state published the Karnataka Water Policy with the goal of providing water supply and sewage services for the entire population of the Karnataka state.
The purpose of the projects that Toshiba Water will engage in is to develop sewage infrastructure to cope with the increasing population and conform to the revised effluent quality standard.
TISS endeavours to contribute to the establishment of sustainable water recycling systems and the creation of environmentally advanced communities by combining its monitoring, control, energy-saving, and other solutions with Toshiba Water’s expertise and experience in EPC and O&M cultivated through the projects in India and elsewhere.
