Konecranes achieved Leadership rating in CDP climate change performance ranking
Konecranes has received recognition for its ambitious climate work, receiving an A- rating in the CDP's climate program and a Leadership ranking (A or A-). The measurement is based on the company's 2019 disclosure about its actions in the last reporting year to cut emissions, mitigate climate risks and develop the low-carbon economy.
"We are truly honored by this recognition, which serves as proof of our commitment to our climate change efforts and more broadly to sustainability. When it comes to climate-related opportunities, we have a unique position to help decarbonize other industries by providing equipment solutions that help our customers and their industries, such as ports, restructure to a low carbon future,” said Mikko Välimaa, VP for Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) and sustainability at Konecranes.
“In 2020 we continued discussions with top management and conducted a set of workshops for all Business Areas and procurement to define climate-related risks and opportunities on a detailed level. Based on this work, we will sharpen our Climate roadmap for years to come,” Välimaa said.
Future-proofing Konecranes’ business means providing advanced low-carbon and energy-efficient technology in products and services that enable our customers’ shift to a low-carbon future, accelerating circular economy.
Climate action and resource efficiency is one of the five cornerstones of our sustainability work. In addition, we focus on sustainable offering and circularity; a safe workplace and products; a diverse, inclusive and engaging workplace; and responsible business conduct. Konecranes has a set of ambitious targets for all five focus areas and regularly monitors performance and progress. Quantifiable climate targets include emission and energy intensity reduction, as well as use of renewable electricity in Konecranes factories.
