TELEDYNE DALSA: GENIE NANO 5GIGE CAMERAS ENABLE HIGH-SPEED DATA TRANSFER OVER LONG DISTANCES
Teledyne DALSA’s Genie Nano 5GigE cameras provide an ideal solution for high-speed data transfer over distances up to 100m using traditional Ethernet components. Using the 5GBASE-T interface, but with the added benefit of Teledyne DALSA’s TurboDrive technology, data throughput approaching 10GigE is possible, but at a much lower price.
The Genie Nano 5GigE series takes advantage of leading industrial image sensors from Sony and On-Semi. Started with the Sony Pregius 3.2M to 12M models, new additional models are planned with On-Semi XGS sensor models with 20M, 30M and 45M resolution. This series supports the same advanced camera features as the current Nano 5Gbs link speed and comes in the same compact form factors as the XL for optimal and easy integration. The new XGS sensors are also the targeted sensors to replace the obsoleted ON-Semi KAI High resolution CCD sensors.
Utilising standard Cat5e cables, they are ideally suited for data-intensive Ethernet-based vision installations or as replacement for existing GigE Vision systems to give a significant improvement in speed or as part of a specifically designed vision subsystem. 5GBASE-T technology offers data transfer rates around 5 times faster than the GigE Vision standard. It provides greater bandwidth than USB3 Vision combined with the TurboDrive capabilities and the 10 GigE internal clock, 10 GigE performance is available without the need for any special Ethernet cabling.
TurboDrive is a proprietary technology that packs pixel data into data packets more efficiently to allow higher frame rates to be accommodated in a Gigabit Ethernet hardware or software infrastructure, increasing data throughput by 20-150%. With internal acquisition rates approaching 1GB/sec, the Genie Nano 5GigE can operate burst mode frame rates up to 190 fps for a 3.2 Mpixel sensor. Even higher frame rates can be achieved in partial scan mode. In addition, the Genie Nano 5GigE features Teledyne DALSA’s Trigger to Image Reliability (T2IR) framework which controls and monitors the entire imaging process from trigger through image capture and transfer to host memory and helps protect data loss. This helps to increase uptime, improve productivity and lower cost.
The excellent image quality provided by the Sony IMX sensors, combined with the impressive data transfer rates makes these cameras ideally suited for use in industrial automation, robotics, electronics manufacturing, packaging or semiconductor inspection, for sports & entertainment applications as well as general machine vision applications.
