Coveris enhances manufacturing capacity with a hat-trick of new BOBST installations
Packaging manufacturer, Coveris, has taken delivery of a new NOVACUT 106 E and secured BOBST a further two machine orders on the back of the die-cutter's success at its Wisbech site.
Alongside NOVACUT 106 E, Coveris has signed a deal to install EXPERTCUT 106 LER and VISIONFOLD 110 A 2 at 73,500sq ft site. The leading packaging manufacturer is a ‘BOBST house' and these latest investments enable the company to boost its skillset and maintain the ongoing development programme. As an established leader in the development and manufacture of multi-format packaging solutions, Coveris partners with major retailers, manufacturers and brand owners to deliver high performance label, film and board packaging formats.
Trevor Storr, Site Manager at Coveris Wisbech, said, “We have an excellent strategic relationship with BOBST investing in a number of BOBST machines already. Having evaluated the options available to us, we opted for the performance we know and can count on.
We consider BOBST a trusted name. These investments will drive our efficiency along the processing line, meaning we can continue to deliver innovative packaging solutions in volume to our customers and maintain the consistent quality that our customers have come to expect from us.
“With changeover time decreased by fifty percent using the NOVACUT 106 E die-cutter, our net output has increased significantly, whilst maintaining the overall quality of our products. The two new machines will support the installation of NOVACUT 106 E, strengthening our position as a full BOBST house.”
The investment in NOVACUT 106 E die-cutter is part of a long-term strategy to support business’ expansion, whilst ensuring quality and turnaround requirements of customers are exceeded. The machine offers the ability to die-cut all types of products and materials in one productive, ergonomic, cost-effective package.
Capable of producing between 7-9 million sheets per year depending on substrate and average run length, based on eight hour daily shifts, it delivers high precision cutting whilst minimising the need for manual intervention; changeover time has been cut by approximately fifty percent when compared to the company’s previous BOBST machines, an SP102 E and SP102 CER, resulting in a dramatic increase in output based on the varied work mix at the site.
Once installed later this year, EXPERTCUT 106 LER and VISIONFOLD 110 A 2 will complement the NOVACUT 106 E die-cutter in terms of productivity, efficiency and quality. Capable of processing up to 9,000 sheets per hour, EXPERTCUT 106 LER is designed to maximise productivity and optimise machine uptime, whilst reducing waste and costs. VISIONFOLD 110 A 2 offers enhanced smooth and accurate folding, regardless of size, substrate and run speed.
Craig McGowan, Sales Area Manager at Bobst UK & Ireland, said: “BOBST combines superb build quality with innovative engineering to ensure its machines are meeting the needs of packaging manufacturers today and in to the future.
“We work closely with our customers to deliver machines which meet their specific requirements and are most suited to their needs to deliver the performance improvements they require. We are delighted that Coveris has invested in us once again and pleased that the Coveris team and customers are reaping the benefits of NOVACUT 106 E.”
