InnoTrans 2020: Confronting the challenges of mobility together

One year before the thirteenth InnoTrans is due to open its doors on 22 Sept 2020, the floor space in every subject area is booked up.

InnoTrans 2020: Confronting the challenges of mobility together
One reason for this consistently high demand is the changes currently taking place in the mobility sector.

At the upcoming InnoTrans climate-friendly transport solutions will be one of the key topics. Travellers who leave their car at home and take a bus or train instead reduce CO2 emissions by two-thirds. In Germany, if only one per cent of car users switched to public transport, CO2 emissions would drop by one million tonnes a year.

As the leading trade fair for transport technology InnoTrans is taking up this subject and at the opening event, under the heading ’The Future of Mobility in times of climate change’, will be providing a forum for a future-oriented exchange among exhibitors, trade visitors, associations and policymakers. This exchange will benefit in particular from many new exhibitors who will be presenting their new products at InnoTrans 2020.

This is the first time that Evobus, Daimler AG’s largest European subsidiary, and BYD, China’s market leader in the electromobility sector, will be presenting their electric buses to a large international audience at InnoTrans. At the Bus Display other exhibitors of electric buses will include VDL Bus & Coach, Ebusco, E-Bus Cluster, Ferrovie dello Stato, K-Bus and Ziehl-Abegg.

“Together with international and innovative exhibitors InnoTrans functions as a future-oriented platform, and as a forum for addressing the challenges of mobility. In particular, the high level of international demand and the participation of many new international exhibitors underline the added value that InnoTrans is offering with this forum for the mobility sector“, said Kerstin Schulz, the director of InnoTrans.

Mobility+ is a new subject area at InnoTrans 2020 which specifically addresses the providers of supplementary mobility services. Mobility+ is a new topic within the Public Transport segment, with a focus on shared mobility, combined mobility and digital mobility platforms. Interest in this new subject area is growing all the time. Leading exhibitors who have already registered to take part include ViaVan, cantamen, MotionTag and ZEITMEILEN.

Another new feature will be the displays occupying hub27, the new fair hall which opened this August. Covering 10,000 m², or approximately 1.5 football pitches, hub27 is one of the largest pillar-free structures in Europe. Passageways which directly connect with Halls 1 and 25 will ensure that the new hall, which houses the Railway Technology segment, will be fully integrated into events taking place at InnoTrans.
