RS Components announces availability of tough-contact connectors from Panasonic Industry Europe
Narrow-pitch tough-contact connector range designed for deployment in industrial equipment and consumer applications
LONDON, UK, xx Month, 2018 - RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc (LSE:ECM), a global multi-channel distributor, has announced availability of 40 new Panasonic connector products that target use in industrial electronics equipment and consumer devices. To meet stringent demands in electronic device assembly and manufacturing, connectors are required to be as compact as possible as well as delivering maximum reliability. To fulfil these requirements, Panasonic has developed narrow-pitch connectors that use the company’s ‘tough-contact’ technology, including flat printed circuit (FPC) and flexible flat cable (FFC) connectors, as well as board-to-board and board-to-FPC types.
The ultra-slim-profile connectors are ideally suited to applications where space is at a premium, while also offering excellent shock and vibration resistance. In addition, the connectors offer high tolerance to twisting and dropping and resistance to dust, foreign particles and corrosive gases.
Designed for use in a wide range of digital devices, and delivering reliable performance over a long lifetime, the Panasonic FPC and FFC connectors are one-piece devices and have a back lock structure. They are particularly suitable for low profile equipment or where the design requires the horizontal insertion of flex cable. Operating over the –55 to +85°C ambient temperature range, pitch types include 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 and 0.5mm devices with a range of mating heights from 0.6 to 1.8mm.
The board-to-board connectors comprise socket and header and have a tough contact structure ensuring high reliability. This is ideal for applications where space limitations mean that it is necessary to stack PCBs or mount modules on a motherboard, enabling parallel connections between PCBs with one-to-one signal transmission. The board-to-FPC connectors are often used for small modules and for connecting up flexible and rigid circuit boards. Both ranges offer pitches of 0.35, 0.4 and 0.5mm and mating heights from 0.6 to 9mm. Electrical characteristics include a maximum power current of 5A and maximum power and signal currents per pin of 1A and 0.5A, respectively.
The Panasonic narrow-pitch tough-contact connector range is shipping from RS in the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions.
