Teledyne FLIR will exhibit at the ITS Australia Global Summit 2026 with Armitage Group, its Premium Partner and authorised ITS distributor in Australia. The two companies share Stand 15–16 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from 22 to 24 September, demonstrating the AI sensing, incident detection and thermal fire detection used on motorways, in tunnels and at intersections.
FLIR's new ISO 7240-29 certified thermal AI fire detection technology represents a major breakthrough in tunnel safety by fundamentally changing how fires are detected and managed. Unlike traditional fire detection systems, which typically require a fire to grow sufficiently large before heat reaches the tunnel ceiling and triggers an alarm, FLIR detects the actual flame itself at the source. This enables reliable fire detection in less than 10 seconds, long before a developing fire reaches its critical growth phase.
A second revolutionary advantage is precise fire localization of the flames directly in the image, allowing operators and emergency responders to immediately understand where intervention is required.
The fire solution is further strengthened using thermal imaging technology which can continue to operate effectively through smoke and darkness, maintaining detection capability and providing critical situational awareness when visibility is most compromised. This allows tunnel operators to monitor evolving incidents, guide evacuation procedures, and support firefighting operations during the most dangerous stages of a fire.
