Emesent has unveiled the Emesent GX1, an integrated SLAM LiDAR, RTK and 360° imagery scanner designed to deliver survey-grade accuracy with mobile efficiency. The company describes the GX1 as the world’s most accurate integrated SLAM and RTK scanner, achieving independently validated 5–10 mm global accuracy for topographic, infrastructure and construction applications.
The GX1 integrates LiDAR, RTK, panoramic cameras and processing software into a single system, enabling seamless workflows from capture to validated deliverables. By eliminating the traditional trade-off between speed and precision, the platform allows survey teams to reduce site capture time by up to 95%, turning multi-week survey campaigns into single-day operations.
Survey-grade accuracy without slowing down
The GX1 is positioned as the only SLAM-based mobile scanner delivering 5–10 mm global accuracy while maintaining rapid field deployment. Its integrated RTK georeferencing with real-time quality monitoring ensures repeatable and verifiable results suitable for engineering-grade outputs.
At the core of the system is Emesent’s proprietary SLAM algorithm, previously deployed in the company’s Hovermap platform and validated in GPS-denied and underground environments. This proven SLAM capability enables reliable performance both indoors and outdoors, even in challenging or dynamic conditions where other mobile systems may lose stability.
Flexible deployment across use cases
The GX1 supports four deployment modes—backpack, survey pole, vehicle mount and supported handheld—allowing operators to adapt quickly to different site conditions. Flexible georeferencing options further reduce the need for return visits: users can capture data using RTK in the field or apply Ground Control Points and checkpoints during post-processing.
The system is suited for:
- Topographic and road surveys
- Scan-to-BIM workflows
- Construction progress monitoring
- Infrastructure and asset documentation
Despite its advanced capabilities, the GX1 is designed for ease of use, enabling junior surveyors to train and deploy the system within days, while still meeting the performance expectations of experienced professionals.
Designed for today’s industry pressures
The launch comes as survey and AEC firms face increasing pressure to deliver faster project turnaround without compromising accuracy, amid ongoing shortages of skilled surveyors. By combining high-precision measurement with rapid mobile capture, the GX1 aims to support productivity gains while maintaining engineering confidence in deliverables.
Dr. Stefan Hrabar, Chief Strategy Officer and Co-Founder of Emesent, commented that the GX1 addresses the industry’s demand to resolve the “tug-of-war between fast and accurate,” bringing validated SLAM precision into everyday surveying workflows.
