The MoUs bring together global industry including SLB, Beicip-Franlab, ConocoPhillips, Eliis, PTTEP, Microsoft, Shell, and TotalEnergies. The collaborations will focus on advancing seismic imaging and accelerating artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) development enabled by high-performance computing (HPC).
“Partnerships like these are essential in advancing Malaysia’s upstream landscape. By combining the strengths of energy operators and technology innovators, we are not only strengthening our exploration and development capabilities but also setting the foundation for a more efficient and resilient Malaysia upstream sector,” said Senior Vice President of MPM, Datuk Ir. Bacho Pilong.
By harnessing dynamic modelling and agentic artificial intelligence (AI), the initiative enables real-time data integration, continuous forecasting, and proactive decision-making. These capabilities extend beyond subsurface evaluation to offshore facility optimisation, particularly through the deployment of Normally Unattended Facilities and Remote Autonomous Operations (NUF-RAO).
These advancements will also support more efficient technical evaluations and investment decisions. Through these collaborations, MPM continues to strengthen Malaysia’s position as a leading destination for high-value upstream investments.
PETRONAS remains committed to ensuring an optimal and sustainable energy supply, with MPM playing a pivotal role in managing petroleum arrangements and providing stewardship for upstream petroleum activities in Malaysia.
