Strengthening collaboration between Würth, KUKA, and Swisslog on supply chain security: E-commerce leader, Würth, has chosen an AutoStore warehouse automation solution for its Greater China CDC (Central Distribution Center).

The new high-density storage system, empowered by Swisslog, will increase picking productivity by at least 3 times, and will optimize one-stop fulfillment for Würth’s customers.

On March 3, 2022, at the Würth Group Greater China Central Distribution Center (CDC) in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, Würth Industry China, KUKA China, and Swisslog held a signing ceremony to mark strategic cooperation on projects. Swisslog signed a contract with Würth Industry China for an AutoStore project in Haiyan.

The signing ceremony was attended by Hiki Xu (CFO of KUKA China) , Mark Chen (Director of Operations and Human Resources of KUKA China), Jeffery Fang (Supply Chain Director of KUKA China), Chris Wei (Sales Director of Swisslog China), Larry B Stevens (CEO of Würth Industry China), Bjoern Bürg (COO of Würth Industries China), Ji Xiufeng (General Manager of Würth Industries China) and Feng Weili (Vice President of Finance of Würth Industries China).

Fully automated AutoStore solution improves one-stop services, and delivers 3x increase in picking productivity
The Industry Division of Würth Group, with 75 years’ experience in providing solutions in fasteners, chemicals, tools, and inventory management, offers customers over 1 million types of C-parts and other logistics services. Würth set up the CDC in Haiyan, Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province in 2015, and has been constantly integrating new technologies to its logistics and supply chain.

"The CDC in Haiyan is a major hub for the Asia-pacific market, providing a one-stop delivery of more than 65,000 product SKUs. The product category, as well as the inventory, is constantly expanding as our business grows,” says Ji Xiufeng, General Manager of Würth Industry China. “After concept design discussions, we choose an AutoStore solution powered by Swisslog, a leading brand in logistics automation.

The Würth CDC AutoStore system in Haiyan will be managed by 8 R5 robots capable of handling over 25,000 bins. There will be three conveyor ports for picking and packing and two more for future expansion. This investment will deliver at least a threefold increase in picking productivity and over 25% more storage density.

Enhancing Partnerships and Ensuring Supply Chain Security
Würth and KUKA China signed a cooperation agreement on the KUKA Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park Project.

As the global partner, Würth provides KUKA Group with C-Parts, MRO, chemicals, solutions, and more. According to the agreement, Würth will provide customized inventory solutions of C-type parts components, and set-up storage systems at the KUKA plant in Shunde, Guangdong, as well as investing in smarter applications. This cooperation will ensure the on-time delivery for the KUKA plant and improve supply chain security.
