Safran and Saab renewed their SBH® contract to support Swedish AW109 helicopter engines

Safran Helicopter Engines and Saab have renewed their agreement to support Arrius 2K2 engines powering the Leonardo AW109 operated by the Swedish Armed Forces . This Support-By-the-Hour (SBH®) contract formalizes a 9-years MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) and services agreement supporting a total of 45 engines.

Safran’s Patroller tactical drone system in the Finnish sky

The Patroller tactical drone system, developed and produced by Safran Electronics & Defense, carried out a series of flight tests this past summer in Finland. These tests were part of the tactical drone system (SDT) program conducted by French defense procurement agency DGA (Direction Générale de l’Armement) as contracting authority. The successful test program was witnessed by representatives of the DGA and the French army.

Safran inaugurates a new “Factory 4.0” to make primary mirror segments for the Extremely Large Telescope

Martin Sion, Chief Executive Officer of Safran Electronics & Defense, and Xavier Barcons, Director General of the European Southern Observatory (ESO), today inaugurated Safran's new production unit at the company's Saint-Benoît plant near Poitiers in central France, which will make the primary mirror segments for Europe's Extremely Large Telescope (ELT).
